We took a few photos at the end of the shoot, though unfortunately we didn’t take any during the shoot. We were supposed to have a photographer one day but he wasn’t able to show up and I didn’t take the time to snap any. I’ll have to make a point of it for my next one. We do have a few outakes, so check back.

So I’m just finishing the last few edits on the film today and then we’re sending it off to Slamdance. We missed the deadline for Sundance, which was a bummer, but with the extra time this afforded me to edit, we’ve made a lot of great changes and I think we’ve managed to make a better film. Hopefully, with a little luck we’ll get in to Slamdance and do well enough that we can get a few going on the film front. I’d like to put together a feature and apply for some grants. Also, it would be cool to hit a couple of the other big film festivals next year such as Caan and the New York and Toronto Film Festivals. I’m not sure what we’re capable of yet on the distribution end of a short film, but I’ll let you know as things develop.
Also, with things as hectic as they’ve been, I haven’t been able to put a trailer together, but we’ll see what we can get done in the next couple of weeks.
In May of this year I wrapped shooting on a short film entitled, The Crisis. My first major undertaking under my Official Idea Productions banner. Wrapping up at 20-25 minutes and having a cast of five, it’s the biggest film I’ve produced to date.
Setting the stage for the film is a marketing agency in crisis as they hash out their plan of attack against the small island nation of Cuba in the last thirteen hours before the Cuban trade embargo is lifted. A crisis of soul, sex, wit, and and emotional frustration ensues. Welcome to a world where the curtain finally fell on Cuba.
I’ll keep you posted as the story on my film progresses, as I try to take it through the festival circuit, and what may come of it when it’s all said and done. Also, as we finish editing here in the next month, stay tuned for the trailer; should be a fun ride..
A couple of trailers I worked in the last couple of years for a series of church services I helped out with for Jacobs Well Church in Minneapolis. The first one is for 2007 and the second one is 2008. The trailers turned out pretty well, see if you can’t guess their inspiration.
A good friend of mine was on the I-35 Minnesota bridge collapse last year. KARE11 had him on a news cast last night. It’s a good piece. You can see it here.
You’ll also note that it’s the same actor that played Sancho Panza in my Don of La Mancha short from a few years back. He’s even wearing the same shirt.
