My First Commercial…

So there’s a contest put together by Mozilla to create a 30 second spot advertising the Firefox web browser. I’ve been looking to do more short work, since putting together short films takes so much time and effort these days…meaning you’re trying to make something good and not the same old practice films and shorts that I’ve done so many times before.

So anyway, a friend of mine sent me a link to their website, http://www.firefoxflicks.com/adcontest/, and I found myself immediately interested…though running a little behind, since the deadline was March 31st 2006 and the day I got the email was Feb 27th 2006; so you can see that I had to put this together fairly quickly.

We got together a few days later and brainstormed. It had to be something splashy, yet elegant, and it had to reach a lot of different people…I mean that’s kind of the problem with firefox up to this point, people just don’t know why they should use it. If you’re an uber-geek or just hate microsoft then you probably use firefox…everyone else uses explorer. That said, it’s a good product, and I think a lot of people would be more supportive of it if they knew it existed, so basically, the ideas we came up with were something that we thought would reach the masses…and hopefully we had a little success in this department. I guess that just remains to be seen.
